Best for: Product-led growth and inbound marketing teams that need real-time enrichment for lead scoring, routing, and personalization inside HubSpot.
View Clearbit (now HubSpot Breeze Intelligence) detailsZoomInfo and Clearbit approach data enrichment from opposite directions, and since HubSpot acquired Clearbit in late 2023, the distinction has gotten sharper.
ZoomInfo is a database-first platform. Its core value is the sheer volume of contact and company records available for prospecting. If your SDR team needs to build account lists by industry, employee count, revenue, and tech stack, then pull direct dials and verified emails, ZoomInfo is the standard tool. The intent data layer (sourced partly through Bombora) lets you prioritize accounts showing active buying signals. For outbound-heavy orgs, this combination of data volume plus intent is the main reason teams pay $15K+ per year.
The downside is cost and data freshness. ZoomInfo contracts are notoriously rigid. Annual commitments with credit limits mean you’re paying whether you use all your credits or not. And while the database is large, individual record accuracy varies. Direct dials in particular can be hit-or-miss, especially for SMB contacts.
Clearbit took a different approach from the start: real-time enrichment via API. Instead of a database you browse, Clearbit sits inside your product signup flow, CRM, or marketing automation and enriches records as they come in. A new lead fills out a form with just their email, and Clearbit appends company name, size, industry, funding, and tech stack in milliseconds. This makes it ideal for lead scoring, routing, and personalization in real time.
Since the HubSpot acquisition, Clearbit has been rebranded as part of Breeze Intelligence and comes included with higher-tier HubSpot plans. If you’re a HubSpot shop, this is significant. You get solid enrichment at no incremental cost. The tradeoff is that Clearbit’s database skews toward technology companies and digital businesses. Coverage of traditional industries like manufacturing or construction is thinner than ZoomInfo’s.
The decision usually comes down to your go-to-market motion. Outbound-first teams that need to build prospecting lists from scratch will find ZoomInfo indispensable. Inbound and PLG teams that need to enrich leads at the point of entry will get more value from Clearbit’s real-time approach.
